March 2010

ETC continued its commitment to West Midlands business with participation in the Hereford Business Expo, organised by the Hereford and

November 2009 – News and Events

ETC directors Doug D’Aubrey and Matthew Chuck joined WYCE founders Keith and Hilary Walker at the Education Project at Madina Salaam, in The Gambia. Both gained a much better understanding of the School, the Clinic, the Visitors’ Lodge and the small businesses that make up the Project, and were able to visualise more clearly the ambitious plans for the future.

But more importantly, they came to understand the Walkers’ passion, commitment, patience and their profound respect for the local people and culture. These all gave real meaning to the term ‘sustainable development’, and go some way to explain the effectiveness of the WYCE approach.

Snowdon and RainedOn!

On Saturday October 3rd ETC director Doug D’Aubrey accompanied 5 others to the top of Snowdon, braving 70 mph winds and driving rain on the final stretch to the top. It was also a spectacular personal triumph for fellow walker Lee Greatbatch. Lee has been blind since birth, but in his short career has played in the GB Paralympic Soccer team, graduated from Worcester University, and has started a company to assist children with impaired sight to work successfully alongside their fellow sighted pupils. Lee was sponsored for his walk and raised a substantial amount for the Worcestershire Association for the Blind and WYCE. Lee has also enrolled on ETC’s MasterMind programme to help him achieve the ambitious goals he has set himself for his new company.
